The 2023 New Year statement covers the central issues in developing a revolutionary strategy for the working class: The continuing COVID-19 pandemic, killing thousands daily; the NATO-US war against Russia in Ukraine leading to the brink of World War III; the aftermath of the January 6, 2021 coup and the growth of fascistic movements around the globe; the unstable capitalist economic crisis and the impact of skyrocketing inflation as the ruling class seeks to drive down wage demands; the response of the working class to unemployment and price increases, making daily life impossible for millions. The statement concludes with an outline of the tasks of the Socialist Equality Party for 2023.
The pamphlet also includes the New Year statement of January 2020, which said that the coming decade would be the “decade of socialist revolution.”
