Why do you call your publication house “Mehring Books”?

Mehring Books is named after German revolutionary Franz Mehring (1846-1919), who played an indispensable role in educating hundreds of thousands of workers in the fundamentals of Marxism, the traditions of their movement, Prussian history and classical German literature, and thereby immunizing them against nationalist myths, militarism and the cult of Prussia that predominated in educated bourgeois circles. A prolific writer, Franz Mehring was a leading Marxist theoretician of the Second International, and the most important historian of the German workers movement of his time. He also authored the first comprehensive biography of Karl Marx.

For a full appreciation of Franz Mehring, study Peter Schwarz’s One hundred years since the death of Franz Mehring, published on the World Socialist Web Site.
