Following a January 2021 consent decree, after UAW leaders were convicted of stealing millions in members’ dues money for their personal gain, UAW members voted overwhelmingly for a first-ever direct vote for the union’s international officers.
That vote, carried out in the fall of 2022, was supposed to guarantee every UAW member a say in the election of officers. The court ordered the UAW to improve its membership mailing list and educate its members broadly to facilitate the widest participation, as well as count the ballots fairly.
The entrenched UAW bureaucracy, however, did the exact opposite. It suppressed news of the election on the UAW website and at the plants; it failed to publish the debate for presidential candidates; it did not adequately update its antiquated membership roster.
As a result, a significant portion of UAW members 1. did not know an election was taking place and 2. did not receive a ballot at their current address. When challenged by UAW member and candidate for president Will Lehman, the courts refused to extend the voting an extra 30 days, to force the union to properly inform the members of the election and provide ballots.
An audit by Lehman’s campaign of local union websites and social media accounts shows the extent of the fraud being perpetrated by the UAW bureaucracy.

The first-ever election for UAW officers, carried out in the fall of 2022, was supposed to guarantee every UAW member a say in its leadership. Courts had ordered the UAW to improve its membership mailing list and educate its members broadly, to facilitate the widest participation, as well as count the ballots fairly.
This Protest contains the audit by Lehman’s campaign of local union websites and social media accounts and shows the extent of the fraud being perpetrated by the UAW bureaucracy, backed up by the courts.
