Mehring Books is the publishing arm of the World Socialist Web Site, the publication of the International Committee of the Fourth International and Socialist Equality Party.

We aim to provide a classical Marxist political orientation to the growing ranks of workers and youth by producing high-quality editions of books and pamphlets in the English language on the history of the socialist movement, on the history of the 20th and 21st centuries, on issues in arts and culture, and in economics and philosophy. We are proudly associated with the writings of Leon Trotsky and other great anti-Stalinist socialists, making many of their books available in English for the first time.

The false identification of Stalinism with socialism is one of the great lies maintained in contemporary history. For decades, the Stalinist bureaucracy of the Soviet Union suppressed the heritage of classical Marxism, while western historians and ideologues exploited the crimes committed by the Stalinist bureaucracy to discredit socialism.

Mehring Books publications contribute to clarifying the historical record. With the historically-recent collapse of the Soviet Union, the eruption of “great power” military conflicts and an intensifying global class struggle, these works acquire an immense contemporary significance.
