Why Are They Back? Historical Falsification, Political Conspiracy, and the Return of Fascism in Germany

The appointment of Adolf Hitler in January 1933 as Chancellor of Germany was the outcome not of an election, but of a political conspiracy involving a small number of senior military and government officials headed by General Paul von Hindenburg. Its horrific consequences were World War II, the Holocaust and the destruction of tens of millions of lives.

Nearly 75 years after the fall of the Third Reich, the neo-Nazi right has once again become a major political force in Germany. Why Are They Back? analyzes the interaction of high-level political conspirators, media propagandists and right-wing academics at Berlin’s Humboldt University in the present-day resurgence of Nazism and German militarism.

  2. The 2019 Workers Rebellion in Matamoros, Mexico

The 2019 Workers Rebellion in Matamoros, Mexico

During the first weeks of 2019, tens of thousands of striking workers brought to a halt virtually all the maquiladora manufacturing plants in the industrial Mexican city of Matamoros, just across the US border with Brownsville, Texas. In a remarkable display of class unity and power, workers defied threats of retribution and violence from companies, union thugs, police and the military, and shut down a significant section of the closely-interconnected supply chain in North America. Key to organizing their struggles across different companies and sectors was the formation of rank-and-file strike committees. Daily reports by the World Socialist Web Site played an important role in guiding the struggle and winning broader support.

4. The Election of Donald Trump: The Insurrection of the Oligarchy (print)

The Election of Donald Trump: The Insurrection of the Oligarchy (print)

The eruption of mass opposition to US President Trump is an event of enormous importance. It poses the question of the program and leadership that will guide the mass social anger at the militaristic and socially reactionary policies of this administration.

Trump is the true face of the capitalist oligarchy. The coming to power of his administration is not an aberration in an otherwise peaceful and democratic society, but the outcome of decades of social cuts, growing inequality and unending war, under both Democrats and Republicans.

The series of articles in this pamphlet outline the political foundations for understanding the origin of Trump's victory and advance a socialist strategy for the working class, the only social force that can defeat the drive toward dictatorship and war. 8. The Truth Behind the Bankruptcy of Detroit

The Truth Behind the Bankruptcy of Detroit

The bankruptcy of Detroit - the largest municipal bankruptcy case in US history - was a political conspiracy and a social crime, designed to set a national precedent in the looting of employee pensions and public assets. The Workers Inquiry into the Bankruptcy of Detroit and the Attack on the DIA and Pensions, held February 15, 2014 at Wayne State University, exposed the political, social and economic forces behind the bankruptcy. The booklet contains reports on the social and historical context, the record of political conspiracy involving state and local authorities and the Obama administration, the legal aspects, the rape of the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the economic parasitism behind the decline of the once-powerful industrial city.

  10. The war comes home: Race, class & police violence in America

The war comes home: Race, class & police violence in America

This pamphlet draws the connection between the growth of police violence in the United States and the erection of a police military intelligence apparatus that operates without any legal or constitutional constraints. There is a parallel between intensifying police violence at home and the pursuit of war overseas.

The growth of social inequality is at the heart of the destruction of democratic rights, and as such is directed at the entire working class - black, white, Hispanic and immigrant alike. Obama, the president of "Hope and Change", bolsters the American elite's War on Terror, imposing ever greater restrictions on fundamental rights; on the other hand, the administration relies on proponents of identity politics, such as Democratic Party operative Al Sharpton, to confuse and divide the working class.
