Nick Beams is the national secretary of the Socialist Equality Party (Australia) and a member of the International Editorial Board of the World Socialist Web Site. He was a founding member of the SEP’s predecessor, the Socialist Labour League (SLL), in 1972. Beams is a leading authority on Marxist political economy, particularly the historical development of world economy and the contemporary significance of globalized production. He has lectured in the United States, Europe, the former USSR, Asia, and Australia. He has also written extensively on Australian and 20th century European history. Recent major lectures of his include, "The Crash of 2008 and its Revolutionary Implications", "Internationalism and the Struggle for Socialism", and "World War Two: Lessons and Warnings".
