   Trotsky's "History of the Russian Revolution" is a sophisticated history of the most important historical event of the twentieth century by one of the individuals who participated in it. In the process, Trotsky distinguishes between the essential and the accidental, and describes how they combine to produce history. Moreover, his chapter on the "dual power" is a classic in terms of understanding revolutionary change. (Posted on 5/14/10)
